"Societal cohesion" - Britta Haßelmann visits Spielmobil and initiatives in Hanau

Under the motto ‘Social cohesion’, Britta Haßelmann, leader of the parliamentary group in the Bundestag, visited the city of Hanau on 19 July 2023. At the invitation of the Green MKK, she gained a comprehensive insight into social coexistence and social initiatives on the ground. As part of her visit, she visited the Augustinchen mobile game, as well as the 19 February initiative and the Ferhat Unvar educational initiative. She was accompanied by Robert Erkan, direct candidate of the Greens for constituency 41, and Mahwish Ifthar, spokeswoman for diversity policy of the Green Youth of Hesse.

At a leisurely breakfast Britta Haßelmann talked to members of the district parliamentary group, the district association and the Hanau city council. It was mainly about the current situation on the ground, which is characterized by the imminent encirclement of Hanau. Another decisive topic was the election campaign for the Hessian state election next October. Robert Erkan, direct candidate for constituency 41, reported on his ideas of joint further development in the Main-Kinzig district.

Then we went to Spielmobil Augustinchen. For many years, it has offered children and young people the opportunity to actively and creatively design their free time. With various games and handicrafts as well as sporting activities, the Spielmobil promotes the motor skills and social interaction of the young participants. Britta Haßelmann was impressed by the variety of offers and emphasized the importance of such facilities for the personal development of children and young people.

Britta Haßelmann met for an exchange with the initiative on 19 February and then visited the education initiative Ferhat Unvar, which is committed to empowering young people. In order to counteract experiences of racism and discrimination, workshop concepts are developed that can be offered in schools as empowerment workshops. Britta Haßelmann was impressed by the work of the initiative in conversation with Serpil Temiz Unvar.

Britta Haßelmann's visit to Hanau illustrates her support for local initiatives and her willingness to work for a just and inclusive society. She praised the commitment of the local people. Britta Haßelmann promised to represent the concerns and needs of the two initiatives at the political level and to work towards strengthening social cohesion. “We are pleased that Britta Haßelmann visited us in Hanau. The visit was marked by a trusting exchange, in which she always had an open ear for the people behind the initiatives and their concerns, but also successes. Thank you for your visit and your support in the Hessian state election campaign from Berlin, Ms Haßelmann!”, says Robert Erkan, direct candidate for WK 41.
