Cycling will become more and more important.’ In recent years, it has become clear ‘that we still have a lot of room for improvement here in the district. The Grand Coalition in the circle still takes a stepmotherly approach to cycling instead of showing a concrete will to implement it.” This is why the Group is now pleased about the participation of citizens: “The first few days have shown that many people are interested in actively participating in an extensive network of cycle paths in the district.”

The evaluations on the online portal prioritise the proposals for measures drawn up by the planning office ‘RV-K’ from Frankfurt. In addition, there is a description and pictures for each proposal. Until 28 February, the measures can be www.radverkehrskonzept-mkk.de to be voted on.

"As Greens, we had already called for a cycle path concept in 2017," explains Wietzorek. ‘The first version, which was subsequently drawn up by the circle, contained 90 measures, of which no measures have been implemented as of now.’ A second, holistic approach was then commissioned: "We hope that the great announcement of the circle to create a holistic cycling concept will not only remain an announcement, but that the suggestions and votes of the citizens will also lead to concrete orders for action and construction measures."

With numerous actions, the Greens in the district and in the municipalities are already supporting the concrete change in transport: “Among other things, a joint event was held with the local associations from Biebergemünd, Wächtersbach and Bad Orb with Karin Müller, Vice-President of the Landtag, on the transport transition in Hessen. There, numerous possibilities were discussed to promote a change on the ground to climate-friendly mobility. We also support the VCD Hessen’s ‘Verkehrswende in Hessen’ referendum, which is under www.verkehrswende-hessen.de can be signed.’

For the concrete implementation, the Grand Coalition must also fundamentally reconsider the budgeted sum of 300,000 euros: ‘Despite subsidies from the state and the federal government, the Main-Kinzig-Kreis will not be able to avoid spending money on measures in the area of cycle paths. With the amount set in the household, large jumps are not possible. We now expect the announcements to be followed by action," Wietzorek concluded.

Enquiries to:

Jakob Mähler
Group Managing Director
Alliance 90 / The Greens Main-Kinzig
06181/61596
0176/46763336
fraktion@gruene-mkk.de

Green parliamentary group: Participate in online survey on actions / words must follow actions

[2

post-909","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-newskreistagsfraktion
["GET
