It is the foundation of democracy. We need to make democracy a reality for young people. This is the only way to build a strong and sustainable society together.”

Mahwish Iftikhar, group leader of the district greens and member of the Hessian state board of the Greens, stressed the importance of Islamic Ramadan and the Christian Lent, which are celebrated this year for the first time in almost 100 years at the same time and appealed to social cohesion: “Over the past parliamentary term, our focus has been on the issues that hold our society together. In the district council, we submitted social and democracy-promoting proposals. Bringing everyone along, not leaving anyone out - that is democracy in action. This is the only way to shape the future of the Main-Kinzig district.”

Tarek Al-Wazir, member of the Bundestag from Offenbach, gave a brilliant speech with numerous fresh insights into federal politics. He worriedly criticised Friedrich Merz’s handling of the special fund, which, through various budget tricks of the black-red coalition, goes to a large extent not into investments, but into financing new expenditures such as maternal pensions and cheap agricultural diesel. In addition, the coalition operates without social and environmental responsibility – a current example of this is the proposals of Minister of Economic Affairs Katherina Reiche, which would significantly impede the expansion of renewable energies. “The Government has enormous opportunities through the Investment Fund, yet its work shows a clear forgetfulness of the future. Urgently necessary railway construction projects, such as the Hanau-Gelnhausen or Hanau-Fulda lines, must not only be planned, but also financed. It is absurd that the black and red federal government, despite special funds, does not provide enough money for the expansion and new construction of the railway. We Greens are committed to ensuring that the Main-Kinzig district receives the investments it needs for a sustainable infrastructure.”

The political Ash Wednesday in Bad Orb made it clear: Alliance 90/The Greens in the Main-Kinzig district stand for approachable politics, clear solutions and a future that takes everyone with it – the people in our circle are important to us.
