The municipality had received a commitment in recent weeks to support the state government for village development, which the Greens took as an opportunity to exchange needs and opportunities to make places such as Brachttal more attractive for residents and visitors.

At the beginning, the participants visited the ‘LandGlück’ shop in the old Wächtersbach ceramics factory. ‘Sustainability is an important part of the concept for our shop’, explained Mona Frank, one of the operators of the shop, where, in addition to food from Brachttal, handmade products are sold directly by producers from all over Germany. The second-hand clothing store ‘Pusteblume’ has also found a place in the spacious shop. "When we reopened the store under a new name in January, we also wanted to make a reference to the ceramics factory," Frank continued. “This is why we have added a collection of ceramics to our shop.”

"The other buildings of the old ceramic factory are partly used as office space and there is also a bar on the premises", explained Matthias Dorka, member of the Green Party in Brachttal. Some areas are unused. The further route led past the sports field, hiking trails and a social facility. On the way, the participants learned a lot about the history of the community from the Brachttalers present. The members of the surrounding communities, Biebergemünd, Wächtersbach and Bad Orb, discussed common challenges in maintaining infrastructure, such as medical care, and possible joint projects.

"In Brachttal you can see a lot of things that are already going well, but also a lot of potential and challenges that we Greens want to tackle, especially in the rural Main-Kinzig district," said Reiner Bousonville, Member of the Board of the Greens Main-Kinzig and Group Chairman, who also took part in the meeting. "In order to be able to cope with this in the interests of the citizens in the municipalities, we hope to win more members in Brachttal and the surrounding villages, such as Bad Soden Salmünster or Birstein," said Bousonville. As an opportunity for further exchange and as a point of contact for interested parties, the Greens organise a ‘Green Round Table’ in Brachttal at 7 p.m. on 3 November. Meeting point is ‘WLC the Room’, Fabrikstraße 12,63636 Brachttal-Schliebach.
