Wind power as a great opportunity for Birstein

"The planned wind farm in Birstein is a great opportunity for the municipality", said Knut Kiesel at an information event on a planned wind power project.

In the past week, there were daily information events in various districts of Birstein, in which Kiesel participated as the Green Bundestag candidate for the eastern Main-Kinzig district. He heard the concerns of the citizens about wind power in their community.

With the twelve planned wind turbines at the Fischborn wind farm and nine wind turbines at the Aurora wind farm with a total of 126 MW, around 315,000 people could be supplied with electricity. “To produce the same energy, 75 000 houses would have to be equipped with photovoltaic systems. Birstein can thus make a major contribution to a climate-neutral electricity supply in the Main-Kinzig district and beyond.”, explains Kiesel. Leases, revenue sharing and trade tax would also benefit the municipality and its citizens financially. Through the energy cooperative Main-Kinzig, citizens can generate further revenue.

“I always like to see new wind power plants on the horizon. They stand for the future and clean energy", says Kiesel. He counters the criticism of some citizens about the appearance of the systems by the fact that night marking is switched on as needed and the systems are provided with an anti-reflection layer. "The children of Birstein will grow up with the wind turbines and see them as a symbol of their homeland, as well as their climate-neutral future," says Kiesel.
