Elections – the defining theme of the KMV in May

Elections of various kinds were the focus of the district members’ assembly on 10 May 2023 at the Dorfgemeinschaftshaus-Hailer in Gelnhausen, in which numerous members of the Green MKK participated both locally and digitally.

The mayoral election in Gelnhausen was a central concern at the KMV. Bernd Wietzorek from the board of the OV Gelnhausen spoke about the election campaign and how the work of the OV is currently geared to it. Following this and as the real highlight of the evening followed the speech of the green mayoral candidate Jakob Mähler. He took those present with him into his varied daily campaign life and proved that he can be mayor. In his speech, the enthusiasm jumped over to those present and it was felt that surely many will follow the call for support.

The next item on the agenda was the election of delegates to the Federal Conference of Delegates in Karlsuhe from 23 to 25 November 2023. The Conference will decide on the European elections programme and the list for the European elections. After Karlsuhe, Mahwish Ifthar and Thomas Gassen will serve as delegates, and Monika Nickel and Matthias Dorka will serve as substitute delegates.

The programme of the KMV also included the usual agenda items such as the report of the Bureau, the Group and the Green Youth. The new management at the district office, Mareike Jäger and Matthias Dorka, also introduced themselves. The Green MKK spokesperson team Emily Benatzky and Ahmet Cetiner led through the evening.

“Once again we had a party. Many thanks to everyone who was there on site and digitally. Thanks also to Jakob Mähler, who took the time for us despite his busy schedule. The election campaign is in the hot phase and we are convinced that with Jakob we have a very good candidate who will work for green issues in Gelnhausen. We wish him a lot of energy for the last days of the election campaign and a lot of success for the election", said Ahmet Cetiner, spokesperson for the Green MKK.
