At yesterday's meeting in the Willi-Salzmann-Halle in Nidderau, the focus was on a generational change: The previous Board of Alliance 90/The Greens Main-Kinzig-Kreis (MKK) A new board of directors was elected and a new board of directors was formed. Local election campaign 2026 ringing in.
Special recognition was given Joachim Nickel, After nearly ten years as treasurer The county was retired. Both the State Executive Board of Hesse as well as the outgoing District Board of Directors commended his commitment to financial stability and structural development of the structure. “Joachim Nickel laid the foundations for our work today with foresight and a sense of responsibility – his commitment was indispensable”, stressed the Chairman of the district Anja Zeller in her speech.
By a large majority, the members present elected the new Board of Directors, which will guide the fate of the district association in the next two years:
- Beate Boege-Sonnek (Treasurer) from Bad Orb
- Anja Zeller from Hanau
- Philip Schinkel from Bad Orb
- Christine Drößler-Utecht from Rodenbach
- Steve Euler from Bad Soden-Salmünster
- Matthias Kuponiyi Böff from Brachttal
The district board is supplemented by the group presidents of the Greens Main-Kinzig Mahwish Iftikhar and the spokespersons of the Green Youth Main-Kinzig, Luise Schnürer and Lennart Häring.
The newly elected board of directors is faced with the task of Climate and social issues to put the district association in the focus of the public debate – especially in view of the upcoming Local elections on 15 March 2026. “Today we start with a clear mission: to make the Main-Kinzig-Kreis ecological, fair and sustainable. We will promote this in the coming months with an offensive campaign for green solutions on the ground.”, explained Anja Zeller after the election.
The meeting also marks the beginning of a strategic reorientation, which are on Citizen participation, climate protection and affordable housing set. In the coming weeks, the county will be Finalising the electoral programme Introducing the first campaign formats.
