The country needs new energies

The Greens Main-Kinzig deal with renewable energies and the upcoming state election at the general assembly

"In the district, the expansion of renewable energies must finally be tackled seriously and in Wiesbaden, a green wind must blow into the State Chancellery in 2023. Tarek Al Wazir must become Prime Minister", said Ahmet Cetiner, Spokesman of the Green Main-Kinzig District Association, at the General Assembly on 15.6.22 in Rodenbach. In doing so, he referred both to the upcoming state election campaign, to which the board of directors agreed its members, and to the decision taken jointly in the assembly on renewable energies.

Previously, however, the Board of Directors announced a change in its own ranks: Viola Haßdenteufel handed over the office to the spokeswoman, to her colleague on the board, Maria Heider. “Through our strong growth and the upcoming election campaigns, we have a variety of tasks ahead of us. It is important that we pool the strengths of our board members and distribute the tasks on strong shoulders. Since I also took over the position of vice-president of the parliamentary groups in the district council last year, I am happy to hand over the office of spokesperson to a great successor," explains Viola Haßdenteufel. Heider thanked her for the trust and commitment of her predecessor.

With Jürgen Staab, co-chair of the energy cooperative Main-Kinzig eG, the meeting discussed prospects for the expansion of renewable energies in the district. “Ukraine’s fight against Russia for its freedom and security now includes the fight for energy security,” stressed Maria Heider. “In particular, Germany urgently needs to resolve its dependence on Russian oil and gas. The expansion of renewable energies has now become existential in order to ensure our energy security and climate protection. We simply can no longer afford a blocking attitude on the part of the rulers at district levels and delays in the examination of wind priority areas such as in Freigericht.”

In a resolution, the General Assembly of the Green Main-Kinzig underlines the need for the further expansion of renewable energies and advocates an accelerated expansion of wind power and photovoltaic systems. Green hydrogen must not be missing in the circle either. Energy efficiency and energy saving must be promoted. Public buildings and institutions serve as role models.

Most recently, the board clearly announced the goals for the upcoming election campaigns: “We Greens are no longer the SPD’s eco-app. We have our own very successful identity," said Ahmet Cetiner, citing a speech by Tarek Al-Wazir at the last National Party Congress. “We want to be responsible. That's why we're going to put in a candidate for the district election, and we're already starting to build up candidates for the state election.
