Kita tour through the whole of Hesse
As part of a nationwide tour through various day care centers, the state parliamentarian Felix Martin (Greens) visited the day care center Kindertraum Lohrhaupten. The aim of the tour is to get a realistic picture of the challenges in early childhood education, but Martin visits 26 randomly selected daycare centers in all Hessian counties. Martin stresses that direct exchanges with professionals and parents are crucial for making informed policy decisions.
In conversation with Tobias Schönmeier, deputy head of the day-care centre, Eva Uhl, deputy head of the day-care centre, and Sibylle Hergert, mayor, the lack of staff was also an issue. In addition, the requirements of early childhood education have changed and, in the course of this, structural changes are also necessary, for example. The facility has been in operation for many years and structural modernizations are urgently needed.
Mayor Sibylle Hergert stressed that the financial situation of the municipality was difficult, which is why funding is needed. She sees it as one of the most important concerns that the state of Hesse again invests more in the promotion of day care centres, especially in small and rural communities such as Flörsbachtal. These cannot bear the financial burden for extensive renovations and the expansion of the facilities alone.
Felix Martin: “I will support a new support programme at state level to enable such investments in the Hessian day-care centres in the future.”
