Board members of the district parliamentary group (Reiner Bousonville) and the district association (Maria Heider) of the Greens in the Main-Kinzig district continued their dialogue with business enterprises in the district yesterday. Yesterday we visited the power station Staudinger (Uniper) in Großkrotzenburg. In an informative and interesting exchange, we talked about the current difficulties of the company in the supply of raw materials. The war in Ukraine has a direct impact on the gas supply and the coal supply is also suffering from the acute drought with extreme lows in the Rhine.
Uniper has recently been classified by the Federal Government as a systemically important supplier and is currently receiving around 50% benefit from the announced gas levy of the Federal Government. But even the decision of the Federal Network Agency to keep the hard coal block 5 in the grid reserve next year and not to close it down does not change the fact that the Staudinger site must develop new and sustainable prospects. This concerns both the future district heating supply of the municipality of Großkrotzenburg as well as the establishment of data centers, photovoltaic systems, hydrogen production and pilot projects for electricity storage.
Staudinger is the largest industrial area in the district and is very relevant for MKK both as a supplier and as an employer. We wish the company that it can get through the crisis well and also realize its new projects together with partners and the community.
