Inquiry to the Academy of Health and Care

Subject of the question:

On 25 September 2020, the district council decided that a separate location should be built for the Academy for Health and Care in Gelnhausen in the educational building of the education partners Main-Kinzig.

Questions:

1. What steps have been taken since the decision of the district council?

Since the district council decision on the Gelnhausen site, a first draft for an extension at the Bildungshaus has been drawn up. The necessary spatial planning is currently being finalized. At the same time, a joint IT solution is being worked on, which is necessary for the operation of the Main-Kinzig-Akademie. For the implementation of the new joint training, a joint curriculum has been drawn up under scientific supervision since last year. Despite the complexity of the practical training, a large training network with many partners could already be realized last year.

2. When is the Academy of Health and Care expected to be completed?

Due to the open financing question and the legal framework, a completion date is currently not to be determined definitively.

3. What was the total cost originally estimated for this purpose?

The cost estimate by the architectural firm Rack/ Gelnhausen for the design serves as a reference for the cost expenditure. The costs currently amount to approximately €16.5 million without land.

a. Is it to be expected that the total costs will be higher than the estimated amount?

i. If so, what additional costs does the administration expect?

When construction starts in 2023, an estimated price increase of 3-6% EUR 17.5 to 18.5 million per annum.

ii. If so, why do these additional costs arise?

Due to the current volatile conditions (e.g. scarcity of raw materials) in the construction industry, this estimate can only be made roughly.

4. Is the position of director already filled?

The line was re-occupied from 01.04.2021. The jobholder Reinhard Baum has been working as a manager in vocational nursing education for several decades. As a dipl. Company educator and cand. MA in Leadership and Coaching, he is well equipped for this position.
