Inquiry: Co2 balance of the Main-Kinzig-Kreis

Subject of the question:

The Main-Kinzig-Kreis is active on 13 November 2017 under the initiative ‘Hessen Aktiv: The Climate Municipalities’. Twenty years earlier, in 1997, the Main-Kinzig district became a member of the Climate Alliance. In doing so, the circle is committed to reducing its CO2 emissions by ten percent every five years.

The parliamentary group Bündnis 90/Die Grünen (Alliance 90/The Greens) asks for answers the following question(s):

1. Has the Main-Kinzig-Kreis now produced a carbon footprint 24 years after joining the Climate Alliance?

Answer: No.

2. If so, what is the CO2 emissions of the circle?

Answer: Not applicable – see 1.

3. If not, why hasn't a carbon footprint been created yet?

Answer: There is currently no climate protection management position in the Main-Kinzig-Kreis.
The focus is currently on energy controlling and energy management of the district's own properties as well as climate protection measures in the form of energy renovations, lighting renovations and climate adaptation measures.

4. If not, is it planned to create a carbon footprint?

Answer: Yes, we are working on the creation.
