  1. Ladies and gentlemen of the party ‘Bündnis 90 die Grünen’ of the city of Gelnhausen and the Main-Kinzig district,

Today I was able to read in the GNZ that the Green Associations from Biebergemünd, Bad Orb and Wächtersbach invite you to a digital regulars' meeting with the Vice-President of the State Parliament on 8 February to talk about the traffic turnaround in Hesse.

An important issue is the improvement of the traffic situation in the ‘Iron Hand’ area at the Bad Orb/Wächtersbach motorway exit. Here, the Greens criticize the fact that crossing the busy federal road is not possible without danger.

A comparable situation exists in the area of the city of Gelnhausen, at the western entrance of Gelnhausen-Höchst.

Here, after the transfer of the local sign, the road users accelerate at high speed into the local area and return to full throttle already in the local area at the exit.

Here, a large number of cyclists cross the L3333 to get on the ‘R3’ cycle path. Here, many dog owners cross the road to get to the designated dog run in the direction of Gelnhausen. Here pedestrians cross the road to walk dry foot towards Gelnhausen. Here children cross the road, which goes to school or to the swimming pool by bicycle. These citizens are exposed to high dangers due to the frenzy and the lack of protective measures, such as zebra crossings and receptacles. This area is at least as dangerous as the Iron Hand area.

If greens from Biebergemünd, Bad Orb and Wächtersbach are already joining forces to eliminate hazardous areas, then, for example, greens from Gelnhausen, Linsengericht and Freigericht, etc., would have to join here without restriction in order to protect cyclists from these communities at the western entrance to Gelnhausen-Höchst from the extremely dangerous crossing of the L3333.

I ask you to take action here and also to address the elimination of the source of danger in Gelnhausen Höchst on 8 February and next to it in principle.

If the Greens are serious about the change in traffic, then they must also ensure that cyclists and pedestrians receive the best possible protection in other areas of responsibility, which is currently not nearly guaranteed.

For almost three years, there have been demands and resolutions against the city of Gelnhausen in this regard. The result is equal to ‘0’. It can be observed again and again that surrounding communities are taking action to protect their citizens and to create transparency. Gelnhausen certainly has a lot of catching up to do here.

I hope to receive feedback from you.

    Yours sincerely,

    Werner Böhm

    Gelnhausen-Höchst
