Bad Orb, 28 June 2024 – The district board of the Greens Main-Kinzig and the district parliamentary group of the Greens Main-Kinzig jointly visited the ALEA RESORT in Bad Orb. The visit provided a deep insight into the company's sustainable practices and initiatives, both locally and internationally.
After an impressive tour of the site and the company's own student apartments, which are completely barrier-free, the talks focused on the sustainability of production abroad and supply chains. Henning Strauss, CEO and owner of the company Strauss, reported in detail about the production sites in Bangladesh and the close cooperation with the local actors.
The production of Engelbert Strauss takes place mainly in Asia, because many of the partner companies there have specific expertise and technologies that they have been able to build up through many years of specialization. Over the years, Bangladesh has become the company's most important production country. There, a total of 15 companies produce 41 percent of Strauss' workwear. In this way, the Hessian family-owned company ensures the employment of more than 15,000 employees in Bangladesh alone. The factories of the Strauss partners have a very high standard and have been investing sustainably in the development of the country and the business location for years. In 2022, Strauss' own production in Bangladesh, the CI Factory in Chattogram, was restarted. Together with the CI Factory in Schlüchtern, Germany, it forms a production stand for small series production and individualized workwear. The production facilities are intensively supervised by Straus in order to ensure the high sustainability standards and the company's own Code of Conduct.
In addition, Henning Strauss presented further initiatives in Bad Orb, focusing in particular on the BALNOVA project. The BALNOVA - Medical Spa and Diagnostics - will in future host a sports medicine physiology and diagnostics centre. The concept combines medical expertise with aspects of the Medical Spa. This is intended to secure Bad Orb's status as a spa town in the long term.
At the end of the visit, guests were served vegetarian food at the resort's restaurant, FOGO e ÀGUA, which underlined the company's sustainable approach. The stimulating discussions were further deepened on this occasion.
The visit was rated by the Greens Main-Kinzig as extremely interesting and informative and in the course of this we would like to thank Henning Strauss for this invitation. The Party will continue to closely monitor and support progress and upcoming initiatives. The Greens encouraged the use of Fairtrade products in the in-house gastronomy in order to make a contribution and to support the Faire Landkreis Main-Kinzig.
