The Green Spitzenkandidat for the office of prime minister could not have planned his visit more appropriately – on the weekend, when the first posters were already hung in some municipalities, the Greens in the MKK celebrated their campaign start for the Hessian state election in October together with the Green Spitzenkandidat Al-Wazir and the direct candidates in the MKK in Ajoki, Hanau.
“How can we make this a good future for all in this country? What do we need for this? We need bold decisions," said Tarek Al-Wazir, who motivated the Green MKK at the beginning of the Townhall. Tarek Al-Wazir is running for prime minister for the first time. He stressed the importance of a sustainable and future-oriented policy for the whole of Hesse and especially for the MKK. He highlighted the Greens' achievements in climate protection, education and economic development and promised to continue to work for a livable and prosperous region. In doing so, he also referred to the federal policy of the Greens and suggested that the traffic light coalition get used to the ‘Hessian style’, because in Hesse they would always have governed with each other, not against each other.
Before Deputy Prime Minister Al-Wazir outlined his policy for the future of the state of Hesse, the direct candidates of the MKK- Anja Zeller (district 40), Robert Erkan (district 41) and Günther Koch (district 42) introduced themselves.
Günther Koch advocates the creation of good living conditions for all children, young people and families in Hesse – in all places and regardless of their origin. This includes following up on inclusion and enabling integration and participation. The further expansion of day care for children remains a major challenge, which will only be mastered with strong support from the federal and state level. For this, the skilled workers offensive is still necessary in Hesse. "The development of child and youth welfare in Hesse requires a strong centre at the state level where planning, research and practical knowledge come together in order to be able to offer regionally tailored solutions for children, young people and families.
Anja Zeller is committed to climate adaptation, climate protection and sustainable mobility. She is behind the Green Hesse electoral programme ‘Every village, every hour’. "We need a mobility guarantee in Hesse so that all people, whether they own a car or not, can get from A to B, even in the evenings and on weekends," says Anja Zeller.
Robert Erkan is committed to a Hessian anti-discrimination law, democracy, and socially acceptable climate protection. Its main objectives are information and transparency.
The Townhall Talk attracted a large number of citizens from the MKK, who took the opportunity to address their questions and concerns directly to the politician. The event provided an open platform for constructive dialogue between candidates and voters to discuss key issues and challenges facing the region, including sustainable mobility, education and skills shortages. The evening was led by Mareike Forchheim, spokeswoman of the Green Hanau, and Ahmet Cetiner, member of the board of the Green MKK.
