Today Gelnhausen was marked by an important democratic decision: the run-off election to the mayor. Two dedicated candidates took part in the citizens' vote.
Jakob Mähler, our candidate of Bündnis 90/Die Grünen in the Main-Kinzig-Kreis, has led a remarkable election campaign.
He fought his way through to the runoff and wrestled for every single vote with dedication, commitment and exceptional personal commitment.
Even if the result was not in his sense today, Jacob's achievement is to be highly appreciated. He has put important topics at the centre of the debate and thus given important impetus to urban policy.
Therefore, our special thanks go to Jakob Mähler.
At the same time, we congratulate Christian Litzinger from the CDU on his election as the new mayor of Gelnhausen. It remains to him the strength and perseverance to wish to exercise this demanding office successfully in the next six years.
As already expressed to Mr Litzinger this evening, the Greens are offering him constructive cooperation in Gelnhausen.
A thank you goes to all citizens who participated in the election, as well as to all candidates for an overall fair election campaign. Our focus is now on the future work for Gelnhausen and the Main-Kinzig-Kreis.
